Iran to Boost Gas Export to Diminish Reliance on Crude Sales

"Through signing new deals and contracts with the two countries of Iraq and Turkey, Iran is able to boost the capacity of gas export from 35 million cubic meter (mcm) to approximately 100 mcm by the next Iranian year." Owji, who is also the managing director of National Iranian Gas Company, stated.

Iranian Senior Oil Ministry official also declared that the Iran will soon witness a change in the revenues of the country from crude oil to natural gas as it exports 30 mcm of natural gas per day to Turkey, making more than 3 billion dollars annually.

Iran possesses the world's second largest natural gas reserves after Russia, and it has been seeking to strengthen its gas production by boosting foreign and domestic investment.
