Wood Group's activities to support oil & gas production from shale fields in the US are growing, with annualized revenue totaling approximately $500 million. This growth supports our outlook for 2013 shale activities and is being driven primarily by two of Wood Group's businesses. Together, Wood Group Mustang and Wood Group PSN have around 2,500 personnel providing engineering, operations & maintenance services to US shale fields.

Wood Group Mustang has supported more than 110 shale projects. Its first project in what is now a major shale play was a 1995 process study that examined ways to improve the efficiency and operation of a natural gas liquids plant in the North Dakota section of the Bakken shale play. Wood Group Mustang now has around 600 employees supporting shale projects, which include:
- gathering pipelines, compressor stations, pump stations, measuring facilities and other midstream facilities in a number of the US shale plays;
- multi-well pad designs in the Eagle Ford, Marcellus, Utica and Bakken shales;
- front-end engineering design (FEED) and detailed design for a 250 million standard cubic feet/day cryogenic turbo-expander gas plant in the Bakken;
- greenfield and brownfield engineering services for a gas plant expansion program; and automating a chemical injection system for wells in the Eagle Ford.

Wood Group Mustang's shale-related work is performed at four locations in the US; and in Calgary, Canada; and Bogota, Colombia. Wood Group PSN, specialists in brownfield production services, increased its presence in the US shale markets in 2012 with the acquisitions of Duval and Mitchell's, in the Eagle Ford and Bakken shale regions, respectively. Delivering operations & maintenance, construction, training & development programs, and consulting services, Wood Group PSN now employs 1,900 people across the US shale market. "Shale production is significantly changing the global energy market," stated Bob Keiller, CEO of Wood Group. "Wood Group has the knowledge and experience to support our customers as they increase their focus on shale regions worldwide."
