A number of oil and gas fields located in Iran’s southern regions are currently being developed by the National Iranian Central Oilfields Company (NICOC). Development of the Shanol, Homa, Varavi, and Tang-e-Bijar gas fields located in Fars Province as well as 16 oilfields are currently underway by the NICOC, noted on Sunday, the company managing director Ali-Reza Zeighami.
Totally producing 37.5 million cubic meters of natural gas per day, Shanol, Homa and Varavi gas fields are the most important projects being developed by the NICOC, he said adding that the development plans are expected to become operational by October.
Also, producing 40 million cubic meters of natural gas per day, Parsian II Refinery is scheduled to come on stream along with the three gas fields, he commented.
He further pointed to the development plan of Tang-e-Bijar gas field in the southwestern province of Ilam as another major project and explained that the field is expected to produce 10 million cubic meters of natural gas per day.
