Valero Energy Corp. (VLO) plans to perform maintenance in late 2014 at its Port Arthur, Texas, refinery, a person familiar with a schedule for work said.

The work during the U.S. autumn at the 310,000-barrel-a-day refinery will include a fluid catalytic cracker, said the person, who asked not to be identified because the information isn’t public.

Bill Day, a Valero spokesman based at company headquarters in San Antonio, said by e-mail that any turnaround will be included in one of the company’s turnaround schedules released each quarter.

The Port Arthur refinery’s catalytic cracker unit can process 75,000 barrels a day, according to data compiled by Bloomberg.

The entire plant can process up to 80 percent heavy sour crude. It produces gasoline, jet fuel, diesel and petrochemicals, and distributes them through the Colonial Pipeline, Explorer Pipeline, Teppco Pipeline or via ships and barges, Valero’s website shows.
