On the occasion of the visit of a French government delegation to Mexico, Gerard Mestrallet, Chairman and CEO of GDF SUEZ, signed a Memorandum of Understanding and Cooperation with Emilio Lozoya, Chairman and CEO of PEMEX, to develop natural gas and other energy projects in Mexico. Mexican and French Presidents Enrique Pena Nieto and Francois Hollande were present at the signing.
With this memorandum, GDF SUEZ and PEMEX have established a collaboration mechanism to work together on future common development projects such as natural gas infrastructure facilities, gas liquefaction facilities, and gas to power plants.
On the occasion of the signing ceremony, Gerard Mestrallet, Chairman and CEO of GDF SUEZ, said “For GDF SUEZ, the signing of this memorandum illustrates the participation of our Group in developing energy infrastructure in Mexico. A central part of our strategy is to accelerate our presence in fast growing markets, and Mexico is clearly a very attractive one.”
This is the first comprehensive memorandum GDF SUEZ has signed with PEMEX, which will have a duration of two years. GDF SUEZ is already working with PEMEX on Phase II of the 740 km Ramones Pipeline Project.
