Searcher Seismic in collaboration with GNS Science, is pleased to announce the Kehu 2D Basin-Tie Seismic Survey.

The Basin-Tie project consists of approximately ~26,200 km of long offset Non-Exclusive 2D Seismic data linking the major hydrocarbon basins of New Zealand, to offer for the first time a regional high quality broadband seismic survey to comprehensively evaluate the tectono-stratigraphic framework of the large sunken continent.

The Kehu 2D Basin-Tie seismic survey can be licensed in its entirety or in North-West and South East subsets. The survey lines have been designed to link the basins through the main depocenters to provide clarity to the sediment thickness and tectonic environment for each of the hydrocarbon prospective basins in New Zealand.

The Kehu 2D Basin-Tie Survey will provide the first opportunity to apply a consistent, modern seismic data set to understanding the nature and extent of the various offshore basins and their relationships to each other in the complex tectonic environment that characterises New Zealand.

The new data will provide companies with a unique opportunity to develop a cutting edge understanding of the petroleum potential of offshore New Zealand basins and devise appropriate exploration strategies.

Searcher’s collaboration with GNS Science has been instrumental to the design of line locations for the survey as well as being able to deliver an integrated interpretation with representative survey data and other seismic, well and potential field data. GNS Science are recognized as being the experts in understanding the hydrocarbon potential and fairways of New Zealand.
