Petroleos Mexicanos, the Secretariat of Environment and Natural Resources (SEMARNAT) and the Federal Attorney for Environmental Protection (Profepa) signed a cooperation agreement to perform various operations preservation and environmental sustainability.
The agreement was signed by the heads of SEMARNAT, Juan Jose Guerra Abud; Profepa, Guillermo Haro Belchez, and Pemex, Emilio Lozoya Austin, during the inauguration of the IV Conference on Environmental Petroleos Mexicanos.
Through this agreement shall be recorded 100 percent of Pemex facilities in the Environmental Audit holding Profepa and environmental liabilities will be addressed through the implementation of corrective measures in cases pending unresolved remediation.
At the event, Lozoya Austin emphasized that attention to the environment represents one of the pillars of the business strategy Pemex. It is possible, he stressed, the full coexistence of the oil industry to sustainability and environmental protection.
Petroleos Mexicanos and endorse environmental authorities, he added, their commitment to work together for the environment, following the guidelines set by the President.
Energy Reform asserted that it carries the most significant change in the history of Pemex, which implies great challenges to make it Productive Company of the State, but also gives you the tools to address them. He also stated that the Environmental Conference, which was performed as part of World Environment Day, will shed important conclusions to encourage action, new technologies and best practices in support of ecology within the oil industry.

In the even to the Corporate Director of Operations of Pemex, Carlos Murrieta Cummings presented the Environmental Protection Strategy of the company, with outstanding shares of emission reductions and combating climate change.
In this regard, he stressed that the goal is to reduce 13 million tons of greenhouse gases by 2020 with an investment of nearly 60 million and 35 percent of emissions of carbon dioxide (CO2).
After indicating that sustainability is an essential factor as a competitive factor, Pemex said it will become a cleaner, efficient, safe and responsible business.
