Turkmenistan is raising its gas delivery to Iran in the coming weeks, the head of National Iranian Gas Company said.
“Iran has a long-term contract with Turkmenistan, based on which the volume of gas exports increases” Hamid-Reza Araqi said.
“Turkmenistan will increase its gas exports to Iran as of next week and today, [Turkmen] gas exports to Iran has soared to 12 mcm,” he said.
Araqi added that he has just met with his Turkmen counterpart.
Iran’s most senior gas official also said that an Iran-Russia working committee has been established to explore ways of cooperation between the two countries.
“Iran has signed a memorandum with Russia’s Gazprom to facilitate mutual cooperation in different sectors,” he said.
Araqi said Russia is among three countries (besides India and the US) to have experienced mini-LNG facilities.
He added that Iran has held talks with Russia for the construction of mini-LNG plants in Iran.
