KNPC said its refining capacity was not affected by the maintenance works carried out on a number of units in Ahmadi refinery, the biggest Kuwaiti refinery, which were completed two days back. Mohammed Al Ajmi, KNPC public relations and information director, said in a statement to KUNA yesterday that the maintenance process included the discontinuation of the new additions project units (FUB) in order to conduct periodical maintenance.

However, the company refining capacity was not affected, as the crude oil refining units were not discontinued from work. Al Ajmi explained that these works started last November 27 and were completed yesterday, when the refinery resumed the operation of the manufacturing units which have been shut down for maintenance, among the most significant of which were the hydrogen cracking unit, hydrogen production units, in addition to a number of units and support facilities. He pointed out that the cost of this periodical maintenance carried out by the company on a number of the refinery units every three years amounted to 2.6 million dinar. He said the shutting down of the units during the performance of the maintenance works was utilized to carry out a number of projects aimed at developing the work of these units and increase their life cycle.

Al Ajmi added that the company succeeded in completing the maintenance works within the specified timetable, especially that no incidents were recorded during this period, as a result of the awareness campaigns and programs it carried out on the industrial safety rules and procedures, with the commencement of work, despite the participation of hundreds of its employees and workers and tens of machines and equipments in the maintenance works.
