The shale gas "has no negative impact on environment," said Sunday in Sidi Bel-Abbes (440-km west of Algiers) Minister of National Planning and Environment Dalila Boudjemaa.

"Impact studies have been conducted for all the projects and all the studies have been finalized in the regions for shale exploration," the minister told a press briefing at the end of her inspection visit to the western province.

"Citizens should know that there is no State that can harm its children," said Boudjemaa, adding that "we have not yet reached the stage of exploitation, we are only in the assessment stage of shale gas reserves. If something is not beneficial, I think that no State can undertake it. We have made set the condition of the mastery of technology. When we reach the stage of exploitation, the required technologies would be ready."

"The Minister of Energy and Mining said that technicians and engineers will be trained on shale gas abroad," added Boudjemaa.
