Oil Search reports that as at 0600 hrs Yemen time (+4 hrs GMT) on 8 March 2004, the Nabrajah-1 well in Block 43, Republic of Yemen, was nearing completion of the TD wireline logging program. During the week 12-1/4 inch hole was drilled from 2,156mMD to TD at 2202mMD. Progress for the week was 46 metres.

Results from electric logs run during the wireline program indicate movable hydrocarbons (likely oil) in the interval 1,770 to 1790mMD. The reservoir consists of Qishn sandstone, which is of the same nature as productive reservoirs in the oil fields in adjacent Block 14. There was no definitive oil-water contact identified by logging and a testing program is planned over the hydrocarbon bearing Qishn sandstone interval.

On completion of the wireline logging program, 9-5/8 inch casing will be run to top basement and cemented in place prior to testing. In addition to the Qishn sandstone interval, further testing is being considered over a number of zones in the well where hydrocarbon shows have been encountered during drilling, with positive but inconclusive Well logging results. Additional log data is currently being acquired to further assist in defining the test intervals.

The Nabrajah-1 well is located in the central sector of Block 43 and is testing the hydrocarbon potential of the Qishn Sandstone and deeper reservoir objectives including the Basement.

The Nabrajah-1 well is the second well that Oil Search has participated in this license .Initial results are encouraging, given the company’s strong acreage position in the basin and the number of additional follow-ups. Nabrajah-1 was the second of two farm-in wells in which Oil Search is participating to earn a 25% working interest (29.42% paying interest) in Block 43.

The participants in this well are:
DNO ASA 50%, operator
Oil Search (Yemen) Limited 25%
First Calgary Petroleums Limited 10%
The Yemen Company 15%, carried
