Algeria Says Talks Ongoing over Possible OPEC Emergency Meet

Algerian Energy Minister Salah Khebri said that discussions about potentially holding an emergency OPEC meeting to discuss the drop in oil price were ongoing, state news agency APS reported.

"Consultations are ongoing to take a decision," APS cited Khebri as saying, when asked about a possible OPEC extraordinary meeting. He did not give further details.

Crude oil futures touched multi-month lows on Monday. Brent was down 19 cents at $48.42 a barrel at 0854 GMT, after touching $48.24, its lowest in more than six months.
