Empresa Nacional del Petroleo (ENAP) has informed the Spanish corporation Duro Felguera, through a Notice to Proceed (NTP), that it has authorized the start of the works for the construction of the co-generation power plant in Concon (Valparaiso Region).
After signing the contract, communicated on May 20, in which ENAP awarded the project to Duro Felguera, now will begin the construction work of the unit, with a duration of 27 months.
The contract included the development of a turnkey project for the installation of a co-generation power plant consisting of a natural gas turbine of 77 MW and a boiler that will produce 125 tons / hour of steam. The facility will be located 1.5 kilometers from the Aconcagua refinery, to which it will supply all the steam produced, and 35 MW of electricity. The contract value is US$ 120 million.
Therefore, ENAP accounts for the progress of one of the projects included in its 2014-2025 Strategic Plan, starting operations at this work, which will supply Aconcagua Refinery.
The chief executive of ENAP, Marcelo Tokman, said that "with this project, we ensure the energy independence of Aconcagua Refinery at a competitive cost, which supplies fuel to the Metropolitan Region. Thus, we are materializing this long desire, fulfilling our commitment to be a cornerstone of Chile's energy matrix."
