Amec Foster Wheeler has been awarded an Integrated Services Contract (ISC) and a Front End Engineering Design (FEED) contract in UK & Vietnam respectively.

Maersk Oil, an international oil and gas company and a fully-owned subsidiary of Maersk Group, awarded Amec Foster Wheeler a three year Integrated Services Contract (ISC). The value of the contract has not been announced. The integrated services will start in September 2015 and will run for three years, with the potential for a further two year extension.

The provision of integrated services in the UK sector of the North Sea includes project management, engineering services, procurement, offshore construction and offshore operations support. The Amec Foster Wheeler team will make use of the company’s proven ‘more 4 less’ lean and scalable engineering processes and integrated delivery together with Scopus Engineering. Efficiencies from ‘more 4 less’ have been proven to deliver 30 to 60 percent savings, in time and cost, compared to traditional approaches.

John Pearson, Amec Foster Wheeler’s Group President for Northern Europe & CIS, said: “I am delighted that our oil and gas team has risen to the challenge of ‘not letting a crisis go to waste’. We have re-written how our services in the North Sea are delivered and have built a new way of working collaboratively, safely and efficiently to answer our customers’ needs in this tough market. I’m delighted that Maersk Oil have recognised that we have a truly different way of delivering efficiently for their assets, and I’m even more delighted that we can deliver significant value for Maersk and look forward to developing a long-term relationship.”

Binh Son Refining and Petrochemical Company Ltd (BSR), a subsidiary of state-owned Vietnam National Oil & Gas Group (PetroVietnam), awarded Amec Foster Wheeler a Front End Engineering Design (FEED) contract for their Dung Quat oil refinery in Quang Ngai Province, Vietnam. The contract is part of the US$1.8 billion expansion and upgrading plan which is planned to increase the plant’s annual processing capacity by 30 per cent.

The two year contract, the value of which has not been announced, includes optimisation of the refinery configuration, coordination of licensors, and the design for new units as well as the revamp of existing units. This includes establishing the optimum project definition to allow the project to be implemented at the lowest cost, while increasing the stable supply of petroleum products in accordance with the Euro 5 standard. Amec Foster Wheeler will also support BSR’s contracting activities ready for the next phase of the project.

Roberto Penno, Amec Foster Wheeler’s Group President for Asia, Middle East, Africa & Southern Europe, said: “This contract award affirms our world leading refinery capability, and I am delighted we are using our global expertise to support BSR in the development of Dung Quat, building on the design we completed for the original refinery 15 years ago.”
