Petroleos Mexicanos signed a services contract to supply nitrogen to Cantarell Nitrogen Company SA de CV, a company of The Linde Group, for shallow-water fields.
The project objective is to recover 800 million barrels of oil over the next 11 years through the application process in well pressure maintenance by supplying the gas.
The contract was signed by Gustavo Escobar, office manager of the Corporate Procurement and Supply Pemex (DCPA), and the director of that company, William A. Locht.
Pemex since 1997 conducted an analysis of alternatives for injecting fluids to Cantarell field, ensuring that the nitrogen gas is the best option for oil recovery, for which the international bidding process for the supply of 1,200 million feet implemented cubic by the company Cantarell Nitrogen .
Also derived from a technical-economic analysis conducted in 2014 confirmed that nitrogen remains the best option to inject into these fields.
