As part of its policy of quality management, environment, safety and health, PETROPERU signed a contract with Industrial Services of the Navy (SIMA) for the construction of 12 double - hull barges for their operations transport of hydrocarbons in the rivers of the Amazon.
The contract was signed at the premises of the Morey House in a ceremony presided over by Mr. German Velasquez Salazar, president of Directory PETROPERU and Mr. Silvio Alva Villamon, Executive Director of SIMA Peru. The document was signed by Mr. Esteban Bertarelli Bustamante, Manager of Refining and Mr. Luis Alberto Diaz Ramirez, Manager of SIMA Iquitos.
The construction of the double hull barges due to the need to improve the safety of transport fuel in the Amazon, in order to preserve the environment.
In that vein, PETROPERU has hired the SIMA Iquitos for the construction of 12 double-hull barges 5 with a capacity of 20 thousand barrels and 7 with a capacity of 8,000 barrels worth US $ 25'665,253.88; which will be built within approximately 2 years.
The company began in 2013 plans to adapt its barges single to double hull hull; however, it was noted that the characteristics of the ships did not allow modification according to the required technical standards. That is why we decided to invest in the construction of new double-hulled ships to substantially improve the safety of its operations.
