COSL Completed Its First Geophysical Exploration Service in North Pole Waters

On August 9, "Hai Yang Shi You 720" completed the 100-day geophysical exploration operation in two blocks in North Pole Barents Sea. This is the first 3D seismic data collection performed by a Chinese geophysical service provider in ultra-high latitude and ultra-low-temperature waters.

"Hai Yang Shi You 720" is the most advanced 12-streamer seismic vessel of COSL. It made a monthly seismic data acquisition record of 1,820.58 square kilometers in the operation. Faced with low temperature, prolonged daylight, narrow time window and changes in tides, the team members worked around the clock and ensured the operation quality.

Low-sulphur fuel oil that meets European standards was used in the operation. The team also made efforts to protect mammals in Arctic waters and minimize the impact of the operation to the environment.
