Iran and Indonesia on Thursday signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for cooperation in oil and gas. The MoU was signed by National Iranian Oil Company (NIOC) and Indonesian oil companies and Irans Mapna and Indonesian PLN company also signed MoUs for cooperation in oil.
Indonesian President Joko Widodo had in a meeting with President Hassan Rouhani on Wednesday referred to a deal for purchase of more than 500,000 metric tons of liquid gas from Iran and said, "We also agreed on Irans investment in establishment of refinery in eastern Java."
Indonesian President said another agreement reached between the two sides envisions construction of electricity power plants in Indonesia by Iran, which will result in increase in the electricity generation of Indonesia up to 5,000 megawatts.
Widodo, referring to an agreement between Iran and Indonesia for partnership of Indonesian state oil company into project for oil enhanced recovery from Ab Teymour and Mansouri fields of Iran, said during his Iran visit, 60 senior directors from Indonesian private sector and various industries accompanied him.
He added that in talks and meetings with their Iranian counterparts, the Indonesian officials had discussed grounds for upgrading exchanges and cooperation between Iranian and Indonesian private sectors.
