La Cira Infantas Field Achieved a Production of 40 Thousand bpd

Cira Infantas, Colombia's oldest oil field in Santander, surpassed December 31 production of 40,000 barrels per day, thanks to a campaign that took place last September, which included the drilling of 20 new wells and The completion of 139 works of conditioning of wells (workover), among other aspects.

The milestone has special relevance for this mature field that began its operation with the well Infantas II in 1918, and whose maximum production was recorded in 1939 when 60,000 barrels of oil were extracted daily. Subsequently, due to the process of natural decline, production fell to 5,000 barrels per day in 2003.

To reverse the trend, in 2005, Ecopetrol entered into a business collaboration agreement with Occidental Andina, which has gradually increased production through the application of state-of-the-art drilling technology to the requirements of the field.

"This is the result of a joint effort by Ecopetrol SA and Occidental Andina, based on teamwork, dedication and commitment of all," said field manager Norberto Diaz Rincon. The manager acknowledged the effort and commitment of the riders, operators, supervisors, engineers, leaders, the work of the contractors and their collaborators, and the work done by the entire Occidental Andina team.

Responsible for the environment, La Cira Infantas makes efficient use of water, reinjecting 100% of the production water, with zero dumps. In the same way new injection plants were built, for greater capacity of secondary recovery.

In the last decade La Cira Infantas has made an investment of 239 billion pesos for social investment projects aimed at strengthening local and regional development such as support for the supply of drinking water, gas, maintenance of roads, eradication of illiteracy , Maintenance of school infrastructure, productive projects and strengthening of local companies, among others.

In terms of job opportunities, the project generates an average recruitment of 3,043 people annually.
