Construction of the Aromatics Project at Urumqi Petrochemical Company begins

On May 1, Urumqi Petrochemical Company starts the construction of a paraxylene aromatic hydrocarbon complex plant. Aromatic hydrocarbon is a main raw material for general engineering plastics. This project includes a 1 Mt/a CCR unit, an 800 kt/a aromatics extraction unit, a 1.7 Mt/a disproportionation unit, a 5.2 Mt/a adsorption-separation unit and a 4.2 Mt/a isomerization unit, and a 5.6 Mt/a xylene fractionation unit. The whole project is expected to be completed in September 2009.
