SP2&3 Starts Constructing First Condensate Sweetening Unit

Construction project of gas condensate de-mercapitanization (DMC) unit began in SP 2&3. A contract was concluded between National Iranian Oil Company (NIOC) and Research Institute of Petroleum Industry (RIPI) along with Khatam-al-Anbiya Construction Headquarter in order to take the sour sulfur compounds from gas condensate in phases 2 and 3. Public relations reported.

DMC project director announced that this project is aimed to sweeten gas condensate in south pars refineries. He added up “this project has been designed and implemented for the first time in the field to decrease the corrosion from harmful compounds in refineries, to improve gas condensate quality, as well as to raise the added value of the products.”

Having completed this unit in phases 2&3, the decision will have been made whether the results correspond with the projected goals so as to continue this project in phases 4&5, 9&10

Project director declared that this project has been scheduled to perform for 10 months and the contractor has almost provided 50 percent of the required equipment by now.

According to Siros Peykar, The unique feature of this project is that it is being implemented in the vicinity of the phases 2 and 3 while complying with the specific guidelines and regulations.
