Tehran Refinery Launches Nitrogen Unit

Tehran Oil Refinery has launched a new nitrogen unit in order to save some environment in a Tehran already choking with pollution, an official with the complex said.

Mohammad Bidar, director of engineering of the refinery, said construction of the unit began in July 2015 with 1,200 cubic meters/hour of capacity which has just come online.

He said the unit prevents waste of 8,000 tons/year of natural gas at the facility which buy itself heavily contributes to reduction of emissions in the big city o Tehran.

Tehran Refinery, with 50 years of history, used natural gas as cover gas in its operations before the unit was launched. This by itself caused so much pollution.
