AMEC announced that subsidiary AMEC Paragon made significant contributions to the successful installation of the Takula Gas Processing Platform (TGPP), which recently has been completed in Block 0 offshore Angola.

Located in approximately 186 feet (57 meters) of water, TGPP is the newest platform to be installed by Chevron subsidiary Cabinda Gulf Oil Company Limited (CABGOC) for the Cabinda Association.

The project is a highlight of CABGOC’s long-term Area A Gas Management (AAGM) Program to reduce the routine flaring of produced gas – both onshore and offshore. As engineering contractor to CABGOC, AMEC Paragon provided front-end engineering design services for the AAGM Program, followed by detailed engineering and procurement assistance to Samsung Heavy Industries for the TGPP, which was built at the Samsung Geoje shipyard, South Korea.

“TGPP represents a major accomplishment for the Area A project as it will provide additional compression and gas sweetening in Block 0,” said Chevron Project Manager Bob King. “AMEC Paragon’s comprehensive detailed design work streamlined the material procurement and fabrication phases of the project and contributed to safe and successful platform installation. We look forward to commissioning and start-up during the third quarter of 2008.”

Terrance Ivers, President of AMEC Paragon, added: “Our work helped ensure the efficiency of the offshore installation effort, including integration with the existing infrastructure. We also have worked in close collaboration with Chevron to support its Incident and Injury-Free (IFF) program over the past six years, leading to the TGPP project’s success and have supported other CABGOC flare reduction projects in Area A since 2003.”

Bridge-linked to an existing platform, TGPP is a single-train facility designed as a 5,000-metric ton, single-lift modular deck with facilities to process approximately 100 million standard cubic feet per day (scf/d) of sour gas for injection and delivery to the new onshore Cabinda Gas Plant.
