Representatives of Stroytransgaz and Dolphin Energy signed a contract for construction of the Taweelah-Fujairah gas pipeline in the United Arab Emirates on July 24, 2008, in Abu Dhabi. Dolphin Energy, the customer for the project whose cost will exceed $400 million, is owned by the government of the United Arab Emirates.

Evgeny Lavrentyev, First Vice-President of Stroytransgaz, signed the contract on behalf of Stroytransgaz. Ibrahim Al Ansari, General Manager UAE, signed the contract on behalf of the customer. Leonid Bokhanovsky, First Vice-President of Stroytransgaz was present at the signing ceremonies.

The gas pipeline, 240 kilometers in length and 48 inches in diameter, will traverse the entire territory of the United Arab Emirates and link the receiving terminal in Taweelah (Abu Dhabi Emirate) on the Persian Gulf coast with treatment facilities in Fujairah (Fujairah Emirate) on the coast of the Gulf of Oman.

In accordance with provisions of the contract, Stroytransgaz will carry out construction on EPC terms, performing base and detail design engineering, procuring equipment and materials, fulfilling construction-assembly work, and commissioning the facility for exploitation. The project provides for building the linear part of the pipeline, including two scraper launcher-receiver units, nine line valve units, a gas metering station as well as installing a SCADA system, a system for detecting gas leaks and ensuring fire safety, electrochemical erosion protection, self-regulating and control instrumentation, and telecommunications equipment.

This is the first large-scale project in the fuel and energy complex of the United Arab Emirates in which a Russian construction company has taken part. As such, this event holds particular significance for further development of mutually beneficial cooperation between Russia and the United Arab Emirates. The contract signing creates exceptionally favorable conditions for Russian construction companies to work successfully in the United Arab Emirates.

During contract signing ceremonies, representatives of both companies emphasized the importance of constructing the Taweelah-Fujairah gas pipeline for further collaboration between Stroytransgaz and Dolphin Energy. Representatives of the two companies discussed further business collaboration and implementation of promising projects in the oil and gas construction industry in the United Arab Emirates and the region.
