Skilled engineers from wind service and resources specialist, CPower Energy, are gearing up to commission one of the world’s largest offshore wind farms after winning a preferred supplier contract for East Anglia One.

CPower Energy was one of only a handful of firms awarded the contract to supply commissioning engineers during the construction phase of East Anglia One by ScottishPower Renewables following a comprehensive tender process.

With combined management team experience of more than 30 years in the offshore wind sector working on high-profile wind projects such as Race Bank, Burbo Bank, BalDc2 and Wikinger, CPower Energy is well placed to deliver ScottishPower Renewables’ requirements.

As well as commissioning managers and engineers, CPower Energy is approved to supply engineers for the offshore and onshore substations, wind turbine generators (WDT), logistics and supervisory control and data acquisition (SCADA) for the project.

When fully operational in 2020, East Anglia One will be one of the largest offshore wind farms in the world supplying clean energy to almost 600,000 British homes.

CPower Energy personnel are expected to start construction work on the project in the next few weeks.

Peter Jorgensen, managing director of CPower Energy said: “We are delighted to have won this prestigious project and can’t wait to get started on helping to create one of the world’s largest wind farms. Our team is extremely highly-skilled and has a deep understanding of the UK wind sector and of commissioning similar high-profile, complex and large scale offshore wind projects. We are looking forward to bringing this extensive expertise to East Anglia One to support the project.”
