Sakhalin Energy offloaded the 600th standard oil cargo since the beginning of year-round production 10 years ago in December 2008 Sakhalin Blend cargo was dispatched to China's Sinochem – a long-term buyer of Sakhalin Energy. About 96 thousand tonnes of oil produced on the continental shelf of the Sea of Okhotsk were shipped to Quanzhou Port by Governor Farkhutdinov oil tanker.
The 600th oil cargo offloading (one standard oil cargo equals to 700 thousand barrels) demonstrates the growing role of Sakhalin Energy as an energy source for Asia-Pacific, with our oil sales rising year by year. This milestone was achieved in the run-up to another memorable date: in early September it will be 20 years since the installation of Molikpaq – the first in Russia offshore oil production platform.
Prigorodnoye received 16-17 thousand tonnes (120-130 thousand barrels) of oil per day. Prigorodnoye port is capable of receiving on average 60 Aframax oil tankers annually. These vessels are new generation tankers with bow loading systems and 1C ice-rating, which allows them to transport hydrocarbons safely throughout the year.
Japanese, Chinese and South Korean refineries and energy companies are the key buyers of our oil. Since the commencement of year-round production, Sakhalin Energy has produced and exported to Asia-Pacific about 54 million tonnes (over 420 million barrels) of oil.
