As construction of a new high-technology Euro+ combined oil refining unit (CORU) nears completion at the Gazprom Neft Moscow Refinery, Moscow Mayor Sergey Sobyanin has made an inspection of final works at the site, accompanied by Gazprom Neft PJSC CEO Alexander Dyukov. The Euro+ facility is a key project in the second phase of the ecological modernisation of the Moscow Refinery, under implementation by Gazprom Neft since 2011.
The Moscow Refinery will be replacing five older-generation facilities thanks to the modern Euro+ unit, significantly reducing environmental impacts, while cutting-edge technologies will allow greater production of aviation and motor fuels. Major domestic manufacturers have been involved in building the facility.
Moscow Mayor Sergey Sobyanin noted that the modernisation of the Moscow Refinery is a major contribution to the city’s environmental friendliness, emphasising that “The plant is now completing the construction of a modern Euro+ oil refining complex, replacing five obsolete facilities using the ‘small processing ring’ technology of the 1960s. This is a major project in the second phase of the refinery’s modernization.”
Gazprom Neft CEO Alexander Dyukov added: “Gazprom Neft has invested more than RUB160 billion in modernising the Moscow Refinery, since 2011. Projects have been implemented to move the refinery to the production of Euro-5 fuels, a unique ‘Biosphere’ biological treatment facilities have been installed, a new, automated environmental monitoring system — unique to the industry — has been built, and a new Euro+ complex is under construction.
And the modernisation programme doesn’t stop there — ahead lies work on decommissioning outdated ‘small processing ring’ technologies, as well as pre-commissioning works for construction of a deep conversion complex (DCC). Gazprom Neft’s total investment in upgrading the plant’s facilities will reach RUB250 billion by 2021.”
The Euro+ complex is now at 97-percent readiness, with specialists having, already, completed installation of large-scale equipment and metal supporting structures. Electrical installation works are ongoing, as is adjustment of automated systems. The complex is due to launch in 2019.
