Albgaz and SNAM together will provide maintenance of the TAP pipeline pipeline in Albanian territory. At a ceremony held in Tirana was finalized the negotiation of the Maintenance Agreement between TAP and the joint venture created by Albgaz Sh.a and Snam S.p.a. Present were the Minister of Infrastructure and Energy, Mr.Damian Gjiknuri; TAP's Managing Director Mr.Luca Schieppatti; administrator of Albgaz Zirri Avrami; the representative of the Italian company SNAM, Mr. Sergio Busatto, the EBRD director and the ambassadors of Switzerland and Italy in Tirana.
During the negotiation process, the Albanian government was assisted by Roland Berger's consultants thanks to the financial support provided by the Swiss Confederation's government through SECO with the aim of providing technical assistance to increase the capacity of gas infrastructure in Albania.
Minister of Infrastructure and Energy Damian Gjiknuri assessed as very important the agreement on the future of gas infrastructure in Albania.
"I would call it a milestone in the success of this so complex project as the TAP pipeline. For the first time, an Albanian company like Albgaz, with the help of the Italian SNAM, will be able to undertake a service for such a big and important project as TAP's gas. There is added value not only from an economic point of view, but above all what Albania needs, keeping internally qualified people, "said Minister Gjiknuri.
According to him, the success of the TAP pipeline project will make gasification of Albania very soon possible, but also the connection with the other project of the Ionian-Adriatic Pipeline (IAP).
"There is a real test of how the Albanian administration works for big investments TAP is the real example. Albania became the most successful country for this project to be implemented on time. This is really a pride of decoration we say everywhere because we did this because of the many suspicions that others had in the moments when this project started, "Minister Gjiknuri insisted.
"I am really happy that today we mark another step forward in completing the strategic infrastructure steps, which bring us even closer to the start of operation in 2020. TAP is contributing to the development of the Albanian gas market with pride. We are looking forward to supporting and cooperating with the maintenance service provider to be set up soon, "said TAP Managing Director Luca Schieppati.
The leader of Albanian state-owned Albanian company Albgaz, Mr. Arbër Avrami gave details of the signed agreement. "The first of its kind in Albania, is signed between TAP and Albania Gas Services Company for an initial period of 7 years, with an initial staff of 52 employees, 90% of whom are Albanian. They will be trained and certified by SNAM in Italy and Albania in the first six months of 2019. Albania Gas Services Company will have its 'branches' in at least four cities in the country: Korça, Corovodë, Berat and Fier. It will build its own maintenance centers, designed according to SNAM standards, "said Albgaz Administrator, Mr. Arbër Avrami.
After signing, a case was also held by the representative of the Italian state gas company SNAM.
"As you know, our company has a 75 year experience in the field of gas industry. We are ready and committed to bring our experience to Albania in order to successfully implement the TAP pipeline maintenance agreement. This agreement is also a step for future cooperation between our companies. We have had intense talks in the months to this deal, but I believe we have achieved a satisfactory product for all parties, "underlined the representative of the Italian company SNAM Sergio Busatto.
