The National Iranian Drilling Company (NIDC) has successfully carried out the deepest casing operation at an offshore wellbore in the Persian Gulf.
NIDC experts, all Iranian, managed to implement the operation with 53 and 58-pound pipes, said Borzou Torabi Raki, head of the piping and wellbore casing administration of NIDC.
He said the operation was conducted in recent days at the depth of 4100 meters by a drilling rig which belonged to North Drilling Company at Well No. 20 in Forouzan Oil Zone.
The official said state-of-the-art equipment like FILL UP TOOLS and FMS POWER TONG was used for the purposes of the operation.
He said pipe-laying operation was one of the main activities of drilling wells in oil and gas industry, and included casing, lining processes and finishing operations.
He said NIDC could now carry out similar operations for pipes varying in diameter from 8 to 20 inches in onshore and offshore wellbores.
