Ramboll Oil & Gas, Qatar will carry out the detailed design of crude oil import and export terminal on Halul Island, Qatar. The contract has been entered into with one of the largest EPIC contractors in Qatar, Doha Petroleum Construction Co. Ltd for the customer Qatar Petroleum.
The objectives of this project are to increase the reliability of the existing crude oil facilities and to upgrade the system for enhanced operational flexibility, which includes installing 4 new 2,3 MW pumps with electrically variable speed drive.
The scope of work will involve all engineering disciplines and have a total man-hours of 35.000. This is one of the largest projects that Ramboll Oil & Gas, Qatar has ever performed for an EPIC contractor in Qatar.
Halul Island is an offshore-designated export terminal located 80 km north-east of Doha City and owned and operated by Qatar Petroleum. Crude oil is received from various offshore sources via sub-sea pipelines and stored in storage tanks. The oil is then exported via single buoy moorings into crude tankers using crude oil loading pumps driven by electrical speed drives and gas turbines.
