Gazprom Neft has begun preparations for the on-site installation of large-scale equipment for the modernisation of its reforming unit.* The project, in which RUB9.7 billion has been invested thus far, will facilitate a 1.5-fold increase in the production of high-octane gasoline components. The facility is expected to be launched in 2020. Reconstruction of the reforming facility is being undertaken as part of the Omsk Refinery’s modernisation programme, being undertaken by Gazprom Neft since 2008.
A total 12 pieces of large-scale equipment are expected to be installed, including five chemical reactors, three columns and two furnaces. Leading Russian manufacturers have been engaged in producing this equipment. The facility will also be equipped with a new automated management and control system. The reconstruction of the reforming unit will allow the effective refining of feedstock obtained from two delayed coking units due to be launched in 2020.
Oleg Belyavsky, General Director of the Omsk Refinery, commented: «The Omsk Refinery is one of the industry’s technological leaders, constantly improving its operational efficiency. The reconstruction of the reforming unit marks a further step in this direction. Implementing this project will lead to a 1.5-fold increase in productivity, allow the production of high-octane Euro-5-compliant gasoline components, allow the effective removal of sulphur and sulphur compounds from raw materials, and reduce environmental impacts.»
