Moscow Refinery Completes Its Transition to Fully Automated Fuel Shipments

Gazprom Neft has completed its construction of a new road-transport light-oil-products loading station at its Moscow Refinery — the launch of this automated fuel-loading terminal being attended by Gazprom Neft CEO Alexander Dyukov.

Modern environmentally friendly technologies, together with the complex’s management systems, are ensuring the highest standards in environmental safety. Gazprom Neft’s investment in developing the automated fuel-loading terminal currently stands at RUB2.5 billion. The project has been implemented as part of Gazprom Neft’s programme of development at the Moscow Refinery, ongoing since 2011.

The new terminal with a capacity of 6,500 tonnes of oil products per day includes 12 posts capable of simultaneously loading tankers with gasoline, diesel and aviation fuel. With technology making it possible to fill all tanker compartments simultaneously, loading times have seen a four-fold reduction. A high-precision digital control system means fuel shipments are accurate to within 100 grams. All information on fuel transportation is analysed through the Gazprom Neft “Neftekontrol” system, online.

The complex is equipped with a vapour-recovery system which collects escaping vapours, turns them into liquid condensate, and returns them to the production cycle. Further protection is offered by absolutely hermetically sealed tanker bottom-loading, preventing any emissions of oil products into the atmosphere, as well as preventing any ingress of dust or contaminants into tanker compartments. All loading posts are equipped with cutting-edge emergency protection and fire-fighting systems.

Anatoly Cherner, Deputy CEO for Logistics, Processing and Sales, Gazprom Neft, commented: “Developing oil-product shipment infrastructure is an important element in modernising the company’s refining assets. Certain key requirements have been taken into account right from the design stage of the Moscow Refinery’s new fuel-loading terminal: the highest possible standards in industrial safety, zero environmental emissions, fast turnaround speeds and continuous quality control. Thanks to modern technologies, we are in a position to ensure greater operational efficiency while consistently reducing environmental impacts.”
