About the Algerian Tanker "MESDAR"

On Friday, July 19, 2019, the MESDAR tanker of 2,000,000 barrels of capacity, property of SONATRACH, was forced to set sail for the territorial waters of the Iranian coasts, by the coastguards of the Iranian navy as it crossed the Strait of Hormuz.

The ship was actually heading to Tanura to load crude oil on behalf of the Chinese company UNIPEC.

A monitoring unit was immediately set up between the ministerial departments of Energy and Foreign Affairs, until the outcome of this case at 20.45.

No human incident or material recorded.
