DHAHRAN, September 06, 2004 -- Saudi Aramco recently reached maximum production capacity at Haradh Gas Plant, part of the Kingdom's Master Gas System, less than six months after the facility's inauguration.

The production capacity at Haradh was gradually increased from 450 million standard cubic feet per day (scfd) up to 1.6 billion scfd, the plant's maximum capacity. Maximum production-capacity tests conducted on equipment at Haradh Gas Plant also tested the quality and production capability of the surrounding gas wells as well as the safety of plant design and construction efficiency, Saudi Aramco officials said.

Test results confirmed the findings of geological studies of the gas reservoirs feeding the plant and demonstrated the accuracy of analyses conduced by Saudi Aramco geologists.

The successful production-capacity tests reinforce Saudi Aramco's position as a reliable producer of energy both locally and internationally.

Haradh Gas Plant constitutes a significant addition to the Master Gas System in Saudi Arabia, increasing the system's overall capacity by 25 percent.

The Saudi national economy will benefit as sales gas flows from east to west across the Kingdom, through a 1,000-kilometer pipeline. Gas will be pumped at maximum capacity to factories and desalination plants in the Red Sea industrial city in Yanbu', creating more jobs and productivity at all levels.

Haradh Gas Plant is one of the most environmentally friendly plants of its kind anywhere, From the design stage onwards, the company set ambitious goals to assure that production and progress at the facility went hand-in-hand with a clean environment.
