Amid the Covid-19 pandemic and low world oil prices, the construction of Pertamina's refineries with large investments must have an impact on society. This demand has come to the attention of the Government and Pertamina as implementing the RDMP / GRR project.
Pertamina Megaproject & Petrochemical Director Ignatius Tallulembang stated that the construction of the Pertamina refinery, known as the RDMP and GRR megaprojects, is a strategic project that provides huge benefits, both to the surrounding community and nationally.
"The refinery construction is a project with a large investment, but to ensure the sustainability and certainty of investment, Pertamina cooperates with global investors. For example cooperation with CPC on Balongan Phase 3 RDMP, "Ignatius said.
Ignatius Tallulembang asserted, although expensive, the construction of the Pertamina refinery had a multiplier effect for opening employment and developing the national economy. With a total investment of around USD 48 billion, RDMP and GRR will provide jobs for around 130 thousand people during construction and around 10 thousand people during operations. The study shows that the multiplier effect on employment will have a 17-fold impact, opening up millions of jobs in various sectors.
"At the time of the pandemic, the RDMP and GRR provided employment opportunities for the community, because of that, Pertamina continued to complete refinery work by implementing health protocols and promoting digital technology," he added.
According to Ignatius Tallulembang, RDMP and GRR also provide opportunities to improve the quality of fuel products that are more environmentally friendly in accordance with international regulations and standards so that in the future a healthier Indonesian ecosystem will be realized.
"With RDMP and GRR, then we will no longer be dependent on importing fuel, it will even become a fuel exporter, especially diesel and aviation fuel which is predicted to have a larger stock," he explained.
In the implementation of RDMP and GRR, continued Ignatius Tallulembang, Pertamina is committed to maximizing the Domestic Component Level (TKDN) both in terms of manpower, materials and equipment so as to provide opportunities and encourage improvement in domestic manufacturing capabilities.
