Petroleum Minister & Australian Ambassador Discuss Gas Market

Petroleum Minister Tarek el Molla held a meeting via video conference with Australian Ambassador here Glenn Miles to discuss bilateral cooperation and the latest developments concerning the global gas market.

They exchanged views regarding gas prices in light of the negative impact of coronavirus on the international energy markets.

The meeting took up mining activities in Egypt and the latest developments regarding the EastMed Gas Forum, Molla said in a statement.

He made it clear that President Abdel Fattah El Sisi has the support of members of the forum, stressing he plays an important role in enhancing cooperation among them.

Miles, for his part, said that Australian companies are interested in investing in the mining sector in Egypt.

Canberra is following up positive developments in the petroleum and mining sectors in Egypt, the diplomat told Molla, noting that Australian firms have an appetite for doing business here.

He invited Molla to attend the International Mining and Resources Conference (IMARC) in Australia, which will be held later this year via video conference, with more than 250 firms taking part.
