As public relations of POGC reported, phase 16's platform went out of production last year due to damage in some areas of its marine pipeline. Having repaired the damaged part, it resumed to gas production with the capacity of 500 million cubic feet per day.

Director of production and operations in POGC, Ali Reza Ebadi, stated the pipeline had already been broken several times in the seabed and caused the platform to stop production. It came back to be operational after the damaged part was replaced and subsequently pre-commissioning and commissioning tests were completed.

Since there was more vulnerability due to high pressure and high temperature in gas flow, almost 32 km of the mentioned pipeline was completely replaced from the zero point of the platform side.

At first the operations faced a relatively long delay in the industrial yard of Khorramshahr (Khozestan province) when the coronavirus outbreak broke out. However, the pipes were built in Khoramshahr and the pipe-laying activities began in the block of phase 16. The damaged parts of the line were pulled out from the depth of the sea and replaced by new ones.

Referring to the fact that the cause of damages is still under investigation, Ebadi said intelligent pigging operations are being carried out at the same time the gas produced from the platform is sent to onshore facilities in order to fully recognize the line particularly in the areas that have not been replaced yet.

Consequently, phase 16's platform and its 110km pipeline came back online prior to winter with the daily production of 500 million cubic feet of rich gas.
