OWC has hired Assistant Project Manager Jin Sook Kim (known as Irene Kim) to strengthen its presence in the South Korean offshore wind market.
After graduating from the Hankuk University of Foreign Studies in Yongin-si, South Korea and Hunter College in New York, USA, Kim gained work experience in offshore wind markets in Korea, China, and North America. She has worked as a third party consultant for Lidar buoy installation and provided owner’s engineering related services for the Wando-Geumil OWF Project in South Korea.
“We are delighted that Irene has joined the OWC team in Korea. Korea is a hugely important emerging wind market with significant floating wind ambitions. Strengthening such a young office is consistent with our strategy of building a strong local presence in key markets,” stated Will Cleverly, OWC managing director.
Based in Seoul and Busan, Kim’s main responsibilities will be to assist the company in business development activities in Korea and South Asia, and to help develop the permitting/metocean consultancy offering in Korea. She speaks fluent English, Korean and Mandarin.
