Global Energy Group (“GEG”) have announced the upcoming appointment of Tim Cornelius in the role of Group Chief Executive.

Tim who will report directly to Chairman, Roy MacGregor will be responsible for group financial performance, group strategy and transition management from a hydrocarbon to a low-carbon business focus.

Tim was appointed a Non-Executive Director of the Group in early January 2020 and has spent many years as a customer, advisor and public advocate for establishing the Port of Nigg as the UK’s leading renewables hub. Previously, he has spent the past 15 years as CEO of SIMEC Atlantis Energy.

Tim extensive energy sector experience began in the oil & gas industry as a commercial diver and ROV pilot before moving into a marine renewables post MBA in 2000. He has developed a reputation for successfully raising funding for and delivering on renewable energy projects in the UK and abroad and is a prominent and well-established figure in financial markets around the world.

Tim is delighted at the new challenge ahead and looking forward to his new role within the Group.

Their reputation for the delivery of high-quality services across the full spectrum of energy sectors, coupled with the strategic location of their assets makes this one of the most exciting roles in the UK energy sector. The Chairman has set a high bar with respect to measuring success going forward and he has built a Company that values safety, quality and reputation above all other metrics. I look forward to working with the team at GEG to build a UK energy services powerhouse that will be at the forefront of the green recovery, as governments target a green and resilient future.

Global Energy Group Chairman, Roy MacGregor added: “I am delighted to formally welcome Tim on board as CEO. He has a long working history with the group as both customer and advisor.
