The SONATRACH group announced that the refining activity has reached “excellent levels” of production of petroleum products, specifying that it has ceased its imports of diesel since March 2020 and gasolines since August of the same year.

The refining activity has reached “excellent levels of production of petroleum products. It achieved record levels of production of diesel (9.5 million tonnes) and gasoline (3.4 million tonnes) ”, indicated the national hydrocarbons company in a press release on the achievements made during the past year.

In 2020, SONATRACH's refining activity recorded an increase of 7.4% in the volumes of oil and condensate treated compared to 2019, from 27.2 million tonnes to 29.1 million tonnes, specified the same source.

This increase was favored in particular by the ramp-up of the Algiers refinery, which allowed SONATRACH to cease its imports of diesel since March 2020 and gasoline since August of the same year.

SONATRACH also exported, for the first time in the last decade, volumes of gasoline and diesel, added the press release. (APS)
