Two new natural gas refuelling stations for cars and trucks have been inaugurated in recent weeks in Rome. The plants were developed by Snam4Mobility in partnership with two fuel distribution operators.

The two stations, which are located in via di Torre Spaccata and in via di Tor Cervara, strengthen the supply of natural gas, an alternative fuel for sustainable mobility, in Lazio and in particular in the area of the capital.

The refuelling station in via di Torre Spaccata is managed by Goldengas, a company that has been active for over fifty years in the supply of energy in particular for transport, and is the fifth in Lazio to supply LNG (liquefied natural gas) for heavy vehicles. The plant in via di Torre Spaccata is already equipped to supply Bio-LNG, that is liquefied biomethane obtained from organic waste, making available a totally renewable fuel for the decarbonisation of heavy transport.

The distributor in via di Tor Cervara is managed by Enerpetroli, a company based in Viterbo that for thirty years has been active in the distribution of fuels in four regions of Central Italy, with 130 own-brand and Esso-branded plants. The plant built by Snam4Mobility for Enerpetroli, the second of nine provided for by the agreement between the two companies, is the eightieth in the region to supply CNG (compressed natural gas). As part of the agreement, Snam4Mobility and Enerpetroli will also create new distributors in Umbria.

The opening of the stations in via di Torre Spaccata and via di Tor Cervara was celebrated with the refuelling of natural gas models characterized by eco-sustainability and efficiency for different mobility needs: in particular, IVECO S-Way, IVECO Daily and the new Piaggio Porter NP6 fuelled with natural gas, for light and heavy transport, and the SEAT Arona compact SUV with 1.0 TGI 90 HP engine, the best-selling CNG car in Italy.

The new openings are part of the commitment of Snam4Mobility, a company wholly owned by Snam, to provide integrated services for sustainable "smart green" natural gas and biomethane mobility. To strengthen the distribution network, Snam4Mobility develops compressed natural gas (CNG and Bio-CNG) distribution infrastructure for cars and liquefied natural gas (LNG and Bio-LNG) for heavy transport throughout Italy. Snam’s 2020-2024 strategic plan envisages the construction of 150 new natural gas and biomethane refuelling stations and the launch of the first five hydrogen refuelling stations.
