The Marine Oil Spill Management Team recently organized an exercise to prepare the Company’s response efforts to effectively combat Tier-I level oil spills.
The exercise, which was conducted in the presence of Team Leader Captain Mohamed Al-Ajmi. is part of the Team’s regularly-scheduled training program. The collaborative undertaking confirms the commitment of the Marine Operations Group’s effort to ensure the readiness of all Teams under its authority, in addition to verifying their ability to properly utilize the tools at their disposal which combat oil spills.
It should be noted that the exercise was conducted in complete adherence to the Company’s current COVID-19 precautionary measures. The exercise itself was conducted on an internal level within the Company and without any external parties. It was conducted in an area about half a mile from the east of the KOC North Pier.
The exercise featured a scenario in which an oil slick was handled which resulted from increased flow from a reservoir at Pier 11. Four ships specialized in oil spill management were utilized during the exercise, including a Work Boat (Al-Khour), a Tubgboat (Kaser), a Pilot Boat (Haqel Burgan), and a Mooring Boat (Haqel Lulu).
