Although the COVID19 pandemic has not ended, PT Pertamina Gas (Pertagas) as an affiliate of Subholding Gas PT PGN Tbk remains committed to carrying out project construction work. This is in line with the government's directive that strategic project construction activities must continue. Pertagas' commitment is realized by ensuring the Rokan Oil Pipeline Project runs according to target.
Pertagas Communication, Relations & CSR Manager, Elok Riani Ariza said that PT Pertamina Gas (Pertagas) continues to strive so that this national strategic project can be completed on time. "As of the end of June, the construction progress has reached 71.33%." said Elok.
In addition to pursuing construction targets, the safety aspect of course remains a major concern. The project, which started on first welding on September 10, 2020, has successfully passed 2,181,751 safe working hours as of June 25, 2021.
The construction and procurement project for an oil pipeline of approximately 367 km will pass through 5 regencies/cities, 14 sub-districts and 38 villages/kelurahan. "We hope that this project will have a positive impact on the development of the Riau region in general and be able to contribute significantly to increasing the capacity of human resources and transfer of knowledge in the areas that are passed by the pipeline in particular," said Elok.
The same thing was expressed by the Regent of Rokan Hilir, Afrizal Sintong when receiving a visit from the Director of Infrastructure & Technology of PT PGN Achmad Muchtasyar and the Director of Engineering and Operations of Pertagas Rosa Permata Sari at the office of the Regent of Rokan Hilir, City of Bagansiapiapi. The Regent advised that the Rokan project could involve local capabilities, both local workers and contractors.
Responding to the aspirations of the local government, the Rokan Oil Pipeline project has absorbed 76% of local workers out of a total of 2,404 workers. The Rokan Oil Pipeline has the potential to transport oil of approximately 200 - 265 thousand barrels per day (bpd) and is targeted to be commercialized in early 2022. This project is one of the largest energy projects that is expected to be able to support energy security and contribute positively to improving the national economy.
