The Petroleum Safety Authority Norway (PSA) has carried out an audit of Aker BP and their planning and execution of activities for maintenance engineering for the Hod B facility. The audit was conducted on 2 and 3 June 2021.
Background
Hod B is a new, unmanned facility that is scheduled to be deployed offshore before summer 2021. Several of our audits of maintenance management have identified non-conformities in relation to classification requirements and maintenance analyses that form the basis for the maintenance programme. We therefore wanted to monitor how Aker BP has organised the maintenance engineering. We also wanted to look at integration between the Valhall and Hod B facilities in respect of maintenance management.
Objective
The objective of the audit was to monitor whether Aker BP is ensuring that the management of maintenance in respect of the labelling of equipment, classification and maintenance programmes for Hod B complies with the regulatory and the company's own requirements.
Result
No non-conformities were identified during the audit, but we observed three factors that we have chosen to categorise as improvement points. These were:
• Non-conformity handling
• Decision support
• Maintenance instructions
What happens now?
We have asked Aker BP to give us its assessment of the improvement points observed. The deadline for this is set at 1 September 2021.
