Initiative involves five gas pipeline systems totaling approximately 2,500 km in length
Petrobras created a virtual environment with the main information necessary for interested natural gas producing companies to access their pipelines for the flow of unprocessed gas in Brazil. Through use assignment contracts, third-party companies will be able to use the capacity available in the existing drainage systems in the Santos Basin, Campos Basin, Espirito Santo Basin, Catu (BA) and Guamaré (RN) regions, totaling 2,473 km long. This is yet another important action by the company to open up the natural gas market in Brazil, enabling the diversification of agents and increased competition in all links of the natural gas chain, in compliance with the commitments assumed with the Administrative Council for Defense Economic (CADE) in July 2019.
In September of last year, the Petrobras announced the signing of contracts with its partners in the offshore gas pipelines of the Santos Basin pre-salt to share the natural gas infrastructure . And, as of this year, the company started making capacity available to third parties not only in the Santos Basin pre-salt gas pipelines, but also in all other assets for the flow and processing of natural gas owned by Petrobras.
In the new business channel, information such as capacity of each gas pipeline, location and technical data of infrastructures, hiring procedures and contacts for the beginning of these negotiations are made available. The model for access to the outflow gas pipelines follows the guidelines of the Book of Good Outflow Practices released by the Brazilian Institute of Oil and Gas (IBP).
Environment with Petrobras shares to open the market
Petrobras is committed to contributing to the development of an open, competitive and sustainable gas market in the country. In order to promote more transparency about Petrobras' actions in this process, the company recently created a new page on the website, bringing together various information on the subject, such as what is the new gas market, opening milestones, regasification, among others. This environment will be updated periodically and reinforces the company's position of remaining in the natural gas market as a relevant agent, but focused on assets that are more in line with its strategy and making new products and services available to customers and the market.
