JGC Holdings Corporation announced that JGC Japan Corporation (Representative director: Shoji Yamada) has been awarded an order from ENEOS NUC for a project to expand polyethylene manufacturing facilities for the insulation of ultra-high voltage and high voltage electric cables. The details of the project are as follows:

1. Client: ENEOS NUC Corporation (a polyethylene manufacturing and sales company wholly owned by ENEOS Corporation)
2. Construction site: ENEOS NUC Kawasaki Plant
3. Scope of Work: Engineering, procurement, construction and commissioning work for a 30,000-ton per year production facility for cross-linked polyethylene insulation
4. Contract type: Lump sum contract
5. Order amount: Not disclosed
6. Delivery: 2023 (planned)
7. Outline
As the introduction of renewable energy sources such as solar power generation and offshore power generation progresses worldwide, the demand for ultra-high voltage and high voltage electric wires used for power transmission is expected to expand worldwide. Consequently, the demand for polyethylene for cross-linked insulation, which is used as an insulation material for power transmission lines, is also expected to increase.

The cross-linked insulating polyethylene produced by ENEOS NUC Corporation (hereinafter referred to as "NUC") has excellent electrical properties and is extremely clean. This product has earned a high reputation as one of the world's top cross-linked polyethylene materials and is used in ultra-high voltage and high voltage electric cables in Asia and other areas.

In order to meet the recent strong demand for this material in Europe, NUC has installed the latest manufacturing facilities at its Kawasaki Works site. The company has decided to increase its annual production capacity of polyethylene for cross-linked insulation for ultra-high-voltage and high-voltage electric cables by about 30,000 tons.

The JGC Group's extensive experience and track record in the petrochemical and chemical fields in Japan and overseas, as well as its ability to deliver projects in a short period of time, were highly evaluated in the award of this contract.

As the need for chemical products continues to diversify worldwide, the JGC Group will continue to aggressively pursue orders for projects that meet client needs by leveraging its accumulated knowledge in petrochemical and chemical plant construction.
