Geir Tungesvik has been appointed Executive Vice President for the Projects, Drilling and Procurement business area with effect from 1 May, after Arne Sigve Nylund has decided that he would like to retire. Aksel Stenerud has been appointed Executive Vice President for the People and Organisation function with effect from 1 March , as Executive Vice President Ana Fonseca Nordang has agreed with the CEO to take on a new role in Equinor’s renewable business area.

“As Arne Sigve Nylund has decided to retire when he turns 62 in July, I thank him for being a great leader and highly held colleague, and for his outstanding contribution to the company for almost 40 years, of which the last eight years in the Corporate Executive Committee,” says Anders Opedal, President and CEO of Equinor.
Nylund joined Equinor in 1983. Prior to his current position that he held since January 2021, he was Executive Vice President, Development & Production Norway (DPN) from 1 January 2014. Prior to this Nylund has held several central management positions in Equinor, both within upstream, mid-stream and downstream.
Geir Tungesvik comes from the position as Senior Vice President for Project development in the Projects, Drilling and Procurement business area in Equinor. From August to year-end 2020 Tungesvik was acting Executive Vice President for the then business area Technology, Projects development, Drilling and Well. Tungesvik joined the company in 1987 and is a very experienced leader from positions within the upstream business. He is educated a petroleum engineer from Norwegian University of Science and Technology.

Aksel Stenerud joined Equinor in 2008 and holds the position as Vice President for global employee relations in the corporate People and Organisation staff function. Aksel has strong background from leading the People and Organisation function in Development and Production International (2018-21) and Development and Production Norway (2014-18). Before his international career in Human Relations, Stenerud was an officer in the Royal Norwegian Airforce and graduated from the Norwegian Air Force Academy in 1994.
Senior Vice President for Communication Jannik Lindbæk has participated in the Corporate Executive Committee meetings since 1 January 2021. From 1 March 2022 Jannik Lindbæk has been appointed Executive Vice President for Communication and is a formal member of the Corporate Executive Committee.
