Introduction of Renewable Electric Power Supply for All Our Data Centers

MARUNOUCHI DIRECT ACCESS Ltd., a joint venture between Mitsubishi Estate Co., Ltd. and Marubeni Corporation, announces that the electric power supply for all of their data centers (hereinafter, DCs) has been switched to renewable electric power by the beginning of Feb. 2022 using the RE100 (*1) conformed feed-in tariff (FIT) non-fossil fuel energy certificates with tracking information (*2).

CO2 discharges from the three DCs are expected to be reduced by 9,800 tons per year, which is equivalent to CO2 discharges from 3,400 ordinary homes.

Reducing the environmental load is being required of DCs which have high power consumption, even though DCs are basically efficient with respect to electric power consumption thanks to scale merit by operating their many servers in a centralized manner. We believe it is essential for society and our customers to deliver renewable electric power for all of our DCs.

We will contribute to the development of safe, secure and comfortable areas in the Otemachi, Marunouchi and Yurakucho districts as an IT infrastructure provider by maintaining DCs directly connected to offices through our optic fiber network, while taking into consideration the needs of the global environment
