Like the rest of the world, we are shocked and deeply saddened by the tragic events in Ukraine. Wood strongly condemns the invasion and stands with the international community in calling for peace. We are committed to standing up and doing the right thing by our people, our clients and those tragically affected, and this has been our focus over the last fortnight.
As ever, the safety and wellbeing of our people is our top priority. We don’t have any business in Ukraine however we are undertaking work in Russia and have a small team on the ground. We are continually reviewing the best course of action to ensure they are safe and have established an Emergency Management Team who are actively leading Wood’s response. Contingency plans are in place and, as a precautionary step, we have relocated foreign nationals out of Russia.
Our trade compliance team continues to monitor the international sanctions, rules and regulations that have been introduced across the globe and provide on-going guidance to the business. We have also made the decision not to bid any new work in Russia and are reviewing our longer-term position in the country, in line with many of our clients.
We are engaged with clients who operate in Russia to develop transition plans, safely and securely, with a duty of care to our people at the heart of everything. Many in the wider Wood community have expressed a desire to help and we have committed to match 100% of any funds raised as part of our employee matched funding programme.
During this incredibly difficult time, we keep the people of Ukraine and all our colleagues affected at the forefront of our thoughts.
