Source: 4/5/2022, Location: Europe

The Petroleum Safety Authority Norway (PSA) has carried out an audit of ConocoPhillips Skandinavia AS (ConocoPhillips) and their acceptance of a floatel for the Ekofisk field. The audit was conducted on 8 March 2022.

A number of cases of loss of position of facilities with dynamic positioning (DP) have been reported in recent years. On our part, the topic has been followed up through audits, investigation of incidents, studies and seminars. The promulgation of learning will be able to help reduce the risk of loss of position.

The objective of the audit was to help reduce the number of incidents of loss of position in respect of mobile facilities and vessels.

No non-conformities were identified during the audit.

One improvement point was identified concerning the documentation of collision loads and collision resistance.

What happens now?
We have asked ConocoPhillips to give us its assessment of the improvement point observed by 22 April 2022.
